About the Scopely's Players Council...

Updated: Aug 27, 2019

During the week that has ended, many players have expressed some concerns towards the newly established Players Council (or now called Player Counsel) as well as some questions with regard to the connection between #PlayersUnited and Scopely's council.  LadyGeek, a longtime engaged RTS player and member of the PC has released a FAQ here. We, the Players United, believe we should also provide some clarifications on our end.

1. DID #PU ASK FOR THE PLAYER COUNSEL?

No.

It was not part of our former letter to Scopely.

Yet we welcome any attempt to facilitate the relations between RTS players and Scopely aiming at improving the game.

2. DOES #PU PARTICIPATE TO THE COUNCIL OR IS IT REPRESENTED IN IT?

No.

We understand Scopely has appointed players to express their opinions and help improving the game. There may be council participants who support #PU, however, to date, there is no member who officially acts as a #PU representative

We are also aware the Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA) council participants have signed can limit their capacity to inform the public and #PU is very cautious to not put any player in trouble. We thus ask the community to remain fair and respectful towards all PC's members.

3. WILL THE COUNCIL FOLLOW #PU'S RECOMMENDATIONS?

We don't know.

It is still very early to comment on the newly established council and we do hope it will reveal a fruitful and effective cooperation between the players and Scopely.

We can nonetheless regret the lack of transparency in the selection process as well as in the agenda being discussed. At this stage, there is much more undisclosed than open to public knowledge, such as the actual leverage this committee can have or the degree to which it can effectively represent the whole community and push forward the necessary changes to the game.

4. IS THE COUNCIL THE ONLY THE WAY TO CONVEY PROPOSITIONS ?

No.

Some Counsel members have reached out to the community to gather suggestions and concerns, be it on the forum or on social messaging applications (Line, Discord). Anyone can contact them and share their ideas. We have no doubt those members will do their best to voice concerns as well as express opinions.

Players United, on the other hand, remain focused on helping improving the game for all. We strongly believe the collective force of the whole community is a great avenue to foster change. We will keep reviewing Scopely's progress on delivering their latest set of promises, with notably our weekly report card, as well as pushing for what we deem necessary to address the main issues the vast majority of players are experiencing:

  • better quality of service (technical stability)

  • better communication and customer service

  • fairer and more transparent game economy (in particular, achieving a more balanced gameplay between P2W and strategy/dedication)

  • introducing more creative content

For more information, check out our manifesto.

5. WILL #PU COMMENT ON THE COUNCIL ?

Yes.

Of course #PU will keep informing the players on any aspect with relation to improving the game.
